Kewo Engineering is performing as Owner’s Engineering services to provide engineering review of the EPC Contractor’s submittals and support during construction for the Glenarm 25MW/100MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. We provide engineering support in the following areas:  

• Equipment: BESS modules, PCS, MV/LV Switchgear, Transformer, CT/VT, Metering, IED  
• Electrical: SLD, Three-line Diagram, Schematics, Protection/Control Diagram, Metering/Comm, SCADA, Site Plan, Section View, Conduit, Grounding, Lighting, Cable Schedule  
• CAISO metering to support RIG and Auxilliary / Ancillary metering  
• Civil/Structural: Site Plan, Grading, Drainage, Foundation Plan and Details, Calculations

Kewo Engineering is the providing design of a new generator with a transfer switch for the LA Union Station to anticipate 3 new signal enclosures.

Kewo Engineering is responsible for providing the following engineering service:

• Perform preliminary load calculation to ensure that the generator capacity is enough for supplying the load.
• Design and install an automatic transfer switch to ensure that the load will still get power even when the main service from LADWP, which is a 200V 400A panel, is failing.
• Perform the generator sizing calculation to ensure that the size of the generator is sufficient to accommodate the peak measured load.
• Develop the quality control inspection checklist document based on the owner’s project requirements and standards.

KEWO Engineering is responsible for providing the following engineering services:

• Enhance the system reliability and security, as well as provide comprehensive control, metering, and monitoring, by upgrading the Park substation protection system.
• Anaheim substation NTU to RTAC and Axion system.
• Clair substation NTU to RTAC and Axion system.

KEWO Engineering is responsible for providing the following engineering services:

• A review of Sharp Substation’s existing protection and automation system settings and programming on the devices.
• Update and make recommendations for improvements.
• Create the standard templates for each device.
• Document all findings and modifications.
• Record effective protection strategy and philosophy.
• Provide technical support for City to transfer and cutover the protection, automation, and SCADA system smoothly from the existing control room to the new control building.
• Ensure Sharp substation is fully operational and functional for this Phase #1 project.

Owner: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP)
Period: 2022 – Present

The main objective of this project is to demolish and remove the existing series capacitors and associated equipment at both the McCullough Switching Station (MSS) and Victorville Switching Station (VSS), and to design, engineer, procure, construct, install, test and commission the new series capacitors, associated equipment and a new 500kV substation at both the MSS and  VSS. Training, preventative maintenance, and support services is also to be provided for the series capacitors and associated equipment.  

Kewo Engineering Corporation provide electrical engineering design services in relation to the design engineering of the new series capacitors and associated equipment. Brian Kewo is the Lead Engineer for this project and Kewo Engineering serves as Engineer of Record.

Kewo Engineering Corporation was contracted to provide electrical services for the Los Angeles Department Pasadena water and power (PWP) underground and transmission and distribution design. The majority of transmission and distribution of PWP is delivered underground.

The following outlines engineering processes that we would do to perform the underground transmission and distribution design but are not limited to:

• Conduct field investigations and prepare calculations, design drawings, construction and material standards, construction specifications, material and equipment specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules as may be required to define the work for completion by either the Utility or a Contractor hired by the Utility.
• Construction support services including the preparation and updating of project schedules and completion-cost estimates, conducting weekly on-site project review meetings with Utility and contractor representatives, preparation of meeting agendas and meeting minutes, preparation and maintenance of action items, review of contractor submittals, requests for information, change requests, and payment requests, and completion of as-built records and drawings. 

• Assist with preparation of bid packages, review of contractor bids and will provide construction support services. 

• Perform Generation electrical facilities including but not limited to: Substations, Switchyard, Powerhouses. and Renewable energy resources 

• Perform Hydroelectric generation and hydroelectric retrofit projects; Arc flash study, Station grounding study, Low voltage Switchgear replacement, Relay protection systems, and SCADA control and monitoring 

• Gas-fired generation and gas-fired retrofit projects; Relay Protection Systems, SCADA control and monitoring, and GSU Transformer replacement 

Owner: Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA)

Kewo Engineering was responsible for designing a new bus yard facility and associated equipment and the adjacent 4,080 sqft office building. Kewo Engineering provided LAWA with the following services:

The Kewo is contracted to provide engineering and technical support during the preliminary design, design, outreach, bid, and construction of electrical, instrumentation, control, and lighting projects for various places in the City of Beaumont on behalf capital improvement plan of the City of Beaumont FY 2021-2025.

The supported area includes but is not limited to; Rangel Park – Ball Field Lights, Electrical and Playground, Stewart Park Renovation, Police Station, New City Hall, Fire Station Rehab.

Kewo Engineering provided as-needed basis professional services for technical support during the design, bid, and construction of electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA projects. The existing SCADA configuration for the Long Beach water system is complex and gathers information from nearly 30,000 different data points via RTU sites and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) at 85 major equipment sites. The purpose of this project was to ensure and improve overall SCADA system reliability, accessibility, maintainability, and security.  

Kewo Engineering’s services for this project included: 

1. Performed detailed design, we will conduct thorough site walks and investigation at all sites to verify existing conditions and walk through a conceptual basis of design and approach. 

1. Worked side-by-side with the engineers from LWBD, AVEVA technical staffs, and technicians from LWBD to provide high-quality review for various submittals including wiring diagrams, ladder logic, SCADA equipment, and other related components. 

1. Reviewed the PLC and HMI programming based on the software standards developed from the SCADA Master Plan of LBWD
